The Woes of PW – The Aftermath

Daily Ramblings November 9th, 2006 @ 1734h

Decided to switch things a little and name this “The Aftermath” instead.

It’s finally done. As Frodo said when he reached Mount Doom: “It’s done!” Since they have bid their farewells to PW, I ought to do so too.

It has been a difficult eight months to work with. And I’m glad it’s over. I don’t have to worry about the results, for a few months at least. If you want to find out what I’ve been through, you might want to read the whole series of entries on that.

Anyway, we were told to rate how our group mates and ourselves fared relatively for the project – how cooperative and contributing we were. I gave a certain someone a 2 and 1 respectively. Apparently, he has some huge ego and gave himself a 5 for both. How interesting. If there were a “zero” I would have given him a zero for contribution. I bet Miss Lim will have a huge laugh when she sees what he has rated for himself.

Sadly, I’m not done with him. There’s still an economics project. But all’s well – we can live without him.

The Woes of PW IX

Daily Ramblings November 7th, 2006 @ 2251h

The BIG day is tomorrow. The Oral Presentation.

And why has it to be TODAY, when Ngee Ann Polytehnic students managed to program something that can do the same thing that what we proposed!? Well, I hope the assessors realize that we came up with this plan ages ago.

Hopefully this is the last post in the “Woes of PW” series. After that, there are two more planned posts: “The Woes of PW – Epilogue” detailing THE END of everything and “The Woes of PW – Aftermath” when I get the results next year.

Good luck to everyone.

The Woes of PW VIII

Daily Ramblings, School September 24th, 2006 @ 0117h

If I had a meter showing my anger level, it must have hit the maximum a while ago.

I’ve had enough.

I received two emails containing sources that hell knows what I am supposed to do with.

I almost wanted to send him this email:

Please do not test my patience any further.

I explicitly told you to send me your Written Report PARTS NOT the sources. I don’t give a hell damn about the sources themselves. I WANT THE WRITTEN REPORT!

Tell me, from the bottom of your heart, HOW MUCH do you think you have contributed? You think having your EOM,I & R, etc, done well is going to earn you a straight A? Think again.

I think I have already given enough chances as it is. Good luck to whoever it is. If you are reading this, take heed, for your doom loss-of-grades is nigh.

The Woes of PW VII

Your uniform is not just two pieces of cloth to cover your body.

A major rewrite is needed. We need to do another survey and interview. Great.

The September holidays are so close and yet I don’t even feel like I’m actually going into the one week vacation. So much to do, so little time.

Yea!

This sucks. Really sucks.

Currently, the written report only has content done by one person, i.e. mine. When you have uncooperative teammates who think there is still a lot of time left, you are in for good s***.

So, sign this petition? I signed it knowing fully that petitions are a waste of time and are of no use just so that I can feel better that there is that minute 0.0000001% chance that it might work.

The Woes of PW V

Music, School August 11th, 2006 @ 1727h

Written Report is due soon. And it is not even half finished. Tell me, what can I do?

Went to interview SMRT yesterday. I must say the people there are pretty nice to talk to. We had expected to only interview one person but it turned out to be three people instead.

They said they receive loads of complains from people all the time – there were even some who complained of “excessive announcements” at MRT stations. They are always trying to improve their services and somethings are just out of their control. I seem to be able to appreciate more of what they do after the 2 hour session.

And they told us to scan our EZ-Link cards when we alight from buses because this enables them to know how full buses are so that they can plan their route.

To be continued…

I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can’t appreciate real love until you’ve been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don’t know what you’ve got until you say goodbye

P.S.: Remember the August 27 event? Well, sorry to say that the email is a little outdated – the event has already happened in 2003.

Anime & Manga, School July 29th, 2006 @ 2049h

Probably not a woe but… we got a positive feedback for interview from SMRT =) Thus proves what we learnt in economics is true. Monopolies make no effort to improve their services and it’s usually the smaller companies who are more willing to do so. Thank you SMRT!

College day today. Managed to get through the whole thing with volume 11 & 12 of Death Note. It takes very long to finish reading one volume.

And ZOMG, according to DeathGod.org, there are plans to show the Death Note Live Action movie here! This is one movie I’d not miss. =)

SBS replied to our questions, telling us to refer to their websites for more information. Great. It’s obvious that they didn’t even bother to read our email.

To be continued…

More things to ramble on. Looks like this blog is the target of some spam bots posting SPAM comments. Thanks to askimet, wordpress filtered all of them.

The Woes of PW II

Daily Ramblings, School July 19th, 2006 @ 2138h

The answer is official; SBS has rejected our request for an interview – not that I did not expect it.

Great. Now how are we supposed to continue without any pinch of information? And MOE still expects us to do PW when a semi-government doesn’t want to help us.

PW, BANZAI!

To be continued…

The Woes of PW I

Daily Ramblings, School July 15th, 2006 @ 2005h

Project Work, or PW for short, is a waste of time, effort and our youth!

Went to do a public survey today at Orchard MRT. In the two hours we stood there, looking for people to answer our survey, we only managed to have 17 surveys completed. Pretty pathetic huh? People just refuse to take the survey. Great. Why are we wasting time on this useless piece of project that will lead us nowhere?

I have a gut feeling our request for interview with SBS will be rejected, just like many others who had their requests reject. If they really reject us, it’s sayonara to our PW.

In other news, while I was walking to the MRT, I was suddenly stopped by someone from somewhere asking me for my contact numbers… apparently for some model business (or so I heard, could be wrong. That person was looking for people to join in some sort of part time job). I was, for a lack of better words, stunned. Being the type who doesn’t know how to reject, I had to lie. I was giving her my phone number when I suddenly regretted and blurted out the last digit of my number wrongly. I gave a false name too. Honestly… I can’t believe myself being a model!?

Someone, apparently an idiot, impersonated me on this guy’s blog, using my name and saying “hi”. Hm… in case you didn’t notice… I don’t type my name that way.
