L’s Name

Anime & Manga, Daily Ramblings October 11th, 2006 @ 2040h

… Looking at this gorgeous set… I don’t know what to say. Dang, I am so getting the normal edition one (that is minus the nice box with figurines inside and the other box with the volumes) but still with L’s true name card… I hope?

Anyway, for those of you who want to be spoiled, L’s real name is… here. And some more spoilers.

Have I said I am a Death Note fanatic?

Death Note Anime – First Impressions

Anime & Manga October 5th, 2006 @ 2115h

So the exams are finished and I watched the first episode of the anime in raw. Well, I could make out most of the story because I’ve read the manga… upteen times.

On the whole, the first episode was pretty well done. The opening animation was pretty abstract and without much context, which is expected of such a series. The song was okay I guess.

Death Note Movie

Pokémon

Anime & Manga August 19th, 2006 @ 2314h

Remember Pokemon? The stuff that used to keep us entertained during our primary school days. Can’t believe that it is already 10 years old and still going strong. Countless number of kids have wasted their parents’ money away on this franchise.

Much have changed, the games for example have gone through much changes from the now defunct Gameboy to the upcoming Nintendo DS. (I remember bugging my parents to buy me a gameboy so that I could play the games but they didn’t yield to my requests. But everyone knows now that the games are easily played on emulators and can be found in almost all corners of the p2p world.)

The first generation era of Blue, Red and Yellow was said to have revolutionised Handheld gaming; the second generation of Silver, Gold and Crystal added new ideas and strategies into the game while fixing much notorious glitches from the first generation; the third generation brought the games to the new platform – Gameboy Advance – with Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald and the remade Fire Red and Leaf Green which introduced tons of improvements in the areas of gameplay and graphics; and the fourth generation currently in development for the Nintendo DS – Diamond and Pearl.

Don’t the games bring waves of nostalgia to you? And gosh, the kids sure have the good stuff today – the graphics are pretty good!

Someone even joked that Wikipedia has more information on Pokemon than anything else.

So, what do you think?

Death Note Fetish

Anime & Manga, Daily Ramblings, Wishlist August 7th, 2006 @ 2138h

Some people have a fetish for rabbits, others for Counter Strike, gaying and pool. I, on the other hand, have it for DEATH NOTE!

death-note.png

Can’t blame me for this; of all the manga I have read so far, this manga is the best in both storyline and art. It is unconventional and has a nice plot.

To top this off, I want this artbook so badly. =/ The only problem is, it costs an atrocious $120+.

To further prove my point, here’s two new MSN display pictures you might catch me using some time later. The only problem is ZoneAlarm, a firewall I have liked and have been using for ages, is giving me heaps of trouble with Live Messenger. So, what should I do? Sacrifice features for safety?

Thank you for wasting 5 minutes of your life and reading a fanboy rant.

The Woes of PW IV

Anime & Manga, School July 29th, 2006 @ 2049h

Probably not a woe but… we got a positive feedback for interview from SMRT =) Thus proves what we learnt in economics is true. Monopolies make no effort to improve their services and it’s usually the smaller companies who are more willing to do so. Thank you SMRT!

College day today. Managed to get through the whole thing with volume 11 & 12 of Death Note. It takes very long to finish reading one volume.

And ZOMG, according to DeathGod.org, there are plans to show the Death Note Live Action movie here! This is one movie I’d not miss. =)

The New Paper

Anime & Manga, Daily Ramblings, Music, School July 28th, 2006 @ 1948h

I’ve not had a liking for The New Paper for the longest time ever.

Remember the lecher? Well apparently, the New Paper sent reporters to shoot photos of VJ girls’ skirts for a nice scoop. This is absurdly disgusting. Further proves my point the New Paper is just a waste of money reporting on “news” that does not matter. We shall see how it goes.

It’s college day tomorrow. I don’t know how I am going to spend the 4 hours sitting in LT1 “watching” the ceremony. Mug? No thanks. Perhaps I could bring some comics to read. =)

If an endless sadness should surround us,
let’s hold each other as we wait for morning
I wonder if someday we can forgive even the irreparable scars
With a smile that hasn’t changed since that day…

Midsummer night dream

ZOMG, Bulbasaur is today’s Wikipedia featured article!?

Pluto

Anime & Manga, Interesting Stuff July 15th, 2006 @ 2111h

ZOMG! Chuang Yi is gonna publish PLUTO! *drools* This is the manga I’ve been looking for by Urasawa Naok (my idol manga who did Monster and 20th Century Boys). I almost wanted to buy the Hong Kong version. But heck..

Pluto

Kinokuniya will see me on Tuesday =)

In other news (thx to Kai Lee), some corny guy has fun with the mirror and the japanese have fun with toilets.

And… I don’t know if this video is supposed to be funny. Or it just might be laughing at those westerners who doesn’t understand japanese custom. Can someone translate what the japanese wrote in the comments?

For the Love of Life

Anime & Manga, Music July 8th, 2006 @ 2022h

For the Love of Life by David Sylvian
MONSTER ED 1

And slowly, you come to realize
It’s all as it should be
You can only do so much

If you’re game enough
You could place your trust in me

For the love of life
There’s a trade off
We could lose it all
But we’ll go down fighting

And what of the children?
Surely they can’t be blamed for our mistakes?

And slowly I’ve come to realize
It’s all as it should be

That hiding space
A lonely place

How can the right thing be so wrong?
I’ve found mistakes
Where they don’t belong

For the love of life
We’ll defeat this
They may tear us down
But we’ll go down fighting

Won’t we?

A pretty cool song =)

Death Note Text

Anime & Manga July 8th, 2006 @ 0250h

I was bored. So I made this little script to generate text using some Death Note fonts that can be found at deathgod.org.

Example:

Anyway, to use, just put an image link to “http://www.domain.kefi.org/deathnote/text/your-text.png”. Remember to put the “.png” at the back or it won’t work!
