Singapore TV shows are full of bad storytelling. That’s why you don’t see them making Lost, or Heroes, or Gossip Girl or 24 kind of shows that appeals to others.

Take last night’s show on Channel 8 for example.

The movie was about a pair of good buddies who end up trying to kill each other. Cliché yes, but there is still a possibility to do good twists as to the CAUSE of this bad blood.

Turns out, it was because one of them, while chasing some thugs, accidentally knocked into some randomly woman who falls beneath some racks and therefore dies of complications due to pregnancy. And guess what, this random stranger is the wife of the other buddy.

In all the world of coincidence, there can’t be anything more coincidental than this. What a dues ex machina to get the story going.

This is why I don’t watch local TV – trashy shows. There are good ones but I can’t help being cynical and nitpick on the minor flaws. This makes my experience inexplicably negative.
