Pokémon

Anime & Manga August 19th, 2006 @ 2314h

Remember Pokemon? The stuff that used to keep us entertained during our primary school days. Can’t believe that it is already 10 years old and still going strong. Countless number of kids have wasted their parents’ money away on this franchise.

Much have changed, the games for example have gone through much changes from the now defunct Gameboy to the upcoming Nintendo DS. (I remember bugging my parents to buy me a gameboy so that I could play the games but they didn’t yield to my requests. But everyone knows now that the games are easily played on emulators and can be found in almost all corners of the p2p world.)

The first generation era of Blue, Red and Yellow was said to have revolutionised Handheld gaming; the second generation of Silver, Gold and Crystal added new ideas and strategies into the game while fixing much notorious glitches from the first generation; the third generation brought the games to the new platform – Gameboy Advance – with Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald and the remade Fire Red and Leaf Green which introduced tons of improvements in the areas of gameplay and graphics; and the fourth generation currently in development for the Nintendo DS – Diamond and Pearl.

Don’t the games bring waves of nostalgia to you? And gosh, the kids sure have the good stuff today – the graphics are pretty good!

Someone even joked that Wikipedia has more information on Pokemon than anything else.

So, what do you think?

My Understanding of the Truth

My Understanding of the Truth
by John “Jake” Chambers

The gunslinger is the truth
Roland is the truth
The Prisoner is the truth
The Lady of Shadows is the truth
The Prisoner and the Lady of shadows are married. That is the truth.
The way station is the truth.
There were monsters under the mountain. That is the truth.
One of them had an Amoco gas pump between his legs and was pretending it was his penis. That is the truth. Roland let me die. That is the truth.
I still love him.
That is the truth.
When is a door not a door? When it’s a jar, and that is the truth.
Blaine is the truth.
Blaine is the truth.
What has four wheels and flies? A garbage truck, and that is the truth.
Blaine is the truth.
You have to watch Blaine all the time, Blain is a pain and that is the truth.
What is black and white and red all over? A blushing zebra, and that is the truth. Blaine is the truth.
I want to go back and that is the truth.
I have to go back and that is the truth.
I’ll go crazy if i don’t go back and that is the truth.
I can’t go home again unless i find a stone a rose a door and that is the truth. Choo-choo, and that is the truth.
Choo-choo, choo choo.
Choo-choo, choo-choo, choo-choo.
Choo-choo, Choo-choo, Choo-Choo, Choo-choo.
I am afraid, and that is the truth.
Choo-choo.

The man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed.

P.S.: If you don’t understand this, it’s alright.

Happy Birthday Xiang Long!

General, Interesting Stuff, Photos August 17th, 2006 @ 2238h

Lo! and behold!
Cos you had your birthday,
you are one year older,
you sing your birthday song just to make it better.

The gist of things is simple. I gave him a book in the morning and told him it was just a preview and he didn’t get it. In essence, we planned a “surprise dinner” for him while keeping him under the impression that there was nothing of this sort . =)

On a totally unrelated note, here’s some interesting photos and stuff..

The Woes of PW VI

Daily Ramblings, School August 13th, 2006 @ 1757h

This sucks. Really sucks.

Currently, the written report only has content done by one person, i.e. mine. When you have uncooperative teammates who think there is still a lot of time left, you are in for good s***.

So, sign this petition? I signed it knowing fully that petitions are a waste of time and are of no use just so that I can feel better that there is that minute 0.0000001% chance that it might work.

The Pair of Little Devils

General August 11th, 2006 @ 1749h

Yesterday, a pair of little devils descended upon my otherwise quiet sanctuary. They were the son and daughter of the cousin on my mother’s side – my niece and nephew.

When I tried to take some photos of them, they ran around the house, creating havoc here and there.
So presenting to you, the rare and difficult to capture photos.

The Woes of PW V

Music, School August 11th, 2006 @ 1727h

Written Report is due soon. And it is not even half finished. Tell me, what can I do?

Went to interview SMRT yesterday. I must say the people there are pretty nice to talk to. We had expected to only interview one person but it turned out to be three people instead.

They said they receive loads of complains from people all the time – there were even some who complained of “excessive announcements” at MRT stations. They are always trying to improve their services and somethings are just out of their control. I seem to be able to appreciate more of what they do after the 2 hour session.

And they told us to scan our EZ-Link cards when we alight from buses because this enables them to know how full buses are so that they can plan their route.

To be continued…

I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can’t appreciate real love until you’ve been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don’t know what you’ve got until you say goodbye

P.S.: Remember the August 27 event? Well, sorry to say that the email is a little outdated – the event has already happened in 2003.

National Day 2006

Interesting Stuff August 9th, 2006 @ 2219h

Happy 41st Birthday, Singapore!

Oh yea, did anyone notice the “Lord of the Rings” music being used during one of the videos shown during the NDP? To be specific, it’s the “Return of the King” track from the “Return of the King” soundtrack. (I think.)

Interesting Stuff, Photos August 9th, 2006 @ 1017h

Probably the first time I am blogging at this time of the day. (On a side note, it seems like the internet in the morning is much faster. Damn Singnet, you call this high quality service?) And yea, the national day celebration yesterday literally spelt BAD.

We had a BBQ at Justine’s place last night and the turnout was pretty good. Kudos to all those who cooked and helped. =) I am a semi-freerider.

Some pictures…(first time my camera went on a field trip with me) WARNING: Long post load time to be expected.

Death Note Fetish

Anime & Manga, Daily Ramblings, Wishlist August 7th, 2006 @ 2138h

Some people have a fetish for rabbits, others for Counter Strike, gaying and pool. I, on the other hand, have it for DEATH NOTE!

death-note.png

Can’t blame me for this; of all the manga I have read so far, this manga is the best in both storyline and art. It is unconventional and has a nice plot.

To top this off, I want this artbook so badly. =/ The only problem is, it costs an atrocious $120+.

To further prove my point, here’s two new MSN display pictures you might catch me using some time later. The only problem is ZoneAlarm, a firewall I have liked and have been using for ages, is giving me heaps of trouble with Live Messenger. So, what should I do? Sacrifice features for safety?

Thank you for wasting 5 minutes of your life and reading a fanboy rant.

Unlimited Wants

Wishlist August 5th, 2006 @ 2117h

Humans have unlimited wants but resources are limited. This certainly applies to me.

After finishing PW today, went “shopping” with Xiang Long at parkway and then with Zenden at Bugis later. I came, I saw, I left (Veni, Vidi, Vamoose) – without buying anything. =(

Presenting to you, my wishlist:

Shoes
I decided it is time I stop giving sports shoes makers money and instead buy some “casual wear”. Here are some Converse shoes I saw that I liked. (There’s one more but I can’t find its picture)

converse-shoe-1.png
converse-shoe-2.png
Unlimited wants, but not the resources (in other words, I don’t have the money).

In lieu of these, I shall have this. (Note, the comic is called “Shoe”.)

Leaving the rest for the next time when I have nothing to write about. Look out for them under the “Wishlist” category.
