I came up with this load of crap that i cant imagine myself writing….
Throughout the five days of job attachment, I have experienced that earning money is not simple as we have to endure long hours of work time. Also I have learnt some skills as well. I had some hands on experience in repairing some of the computers. There were also other students, from polytechnic, having their job attachments. One of them, whom I was assigned to, taught me some skills in diagnosing and then finally fixing a computer problem.
As we first stepped into the company on the first day, I was feeling nervous. After filling in some forms I was assigned to Esther. My first task was to do stock-checking. I learnt that stock-checking was essential so as to ensure that all goods in the storeroom were accounted for.
Next I was assigned to enter some data into the computer database system. I was surprised to find out that Microsoft Excel was the de facto standard for administrative work. I rarely use Microsoft Excel but by helping them do some of the work, I have learnt some of the skills in using Microsoft Excel.
After that I was assigned to “create” a new entry for every case of computer malfunction into their database. It was then I realized why it takes a few days for a computer to be sent in for repair and picked up after reparations. I also learnt the procedures in which a case is processed.
On the third day I was finally allowed to have a hands-on in repairing something. Through the person I was assigned to, Nicholas, I had learnt the procedures of diagnosing, finding the possible cause, fix the problem and finally run tests to confirm that the fix has worked.
I did all of these tasks for a few days. At the end of it, I felt I had gained a lot from this experience. Not only had I learnt some new skills I had a look at the life of a working adult. Though there were times I was complaining to myself about the number of hours I had to spend for this programme, I felt it was all worth it. Though I do not have yet any solid plan for my future but if I am allowed, I would like to work there again as a computer engineer.
